2001 Hyundai XG300 steering column

The middle asking price for a used one is $27.76, across 1 live eBay listing for the 2001 model year. That’s what sellers are asking, not what buyers paid. Sold prices aren’t published anywhere you can count on, and asking prices usually run about a quarter higher than what things sell for — so we say which one this is.

How it comes off

The steering wheel carries the driver’s airbag. If the yard has not taken it out, leave it alone: an airbag can go off when it is disturbed.

  1. Only with the airbag already out of the wheel: take off the lower dash panel and the column shrouds.
  2. Mark the lower shaft coupler, then remove its pinch bolt.
  3. Unplug the switches and the ignition wiring.
  4. Support the column, remove the bolts holding it to the dash frame, and lower it out.

The usual order on most cars. A 2001 Hyundai XG300 may hide a screw or a clip somewhere else: if a piece will not move, look for what is still holding it before you pry harder.

What to bring for it

Typical sizes, not a promise for every car. Everything to bring to a pull-your-own yard.

Is it worth pulling?

That depends on what the yard charges for it and how long it takes to get off the car, and on where it sits against the other 48 parts on a 2001 Hyundai XG300 that have a market. The full sheet for this vehicle ranks all of them by what you save and by what you clear.
